Again a change has been made in the police department of Bihar. Bihar government has removed Alok Raj from the post of DGP and given the responsibility to Vinay Kumar. The Home Department has issued its notification late on Friday evening. Vinay Kumar was till now posted as DG of Police Building Construction Corporation.

DGP will remain even after two years
As per the notification, Vinay Kumar has been made DGP of Bihar for the next two years. But as per the order of the Supreme Court, he will continue on the post of DGP even after two years. The state government has sent the current DGP Alok Raj to the Police Building Construction Corporation. Alok Raj is a 1989 batch IPS officer.
Alok Raj became DGP after Rajbinder Singh Bhatti went on central deputation.
This post had become vacant due to DGP Rajbinder Singh Bhatti going on central deputation. After this, Alok Raj was made the DGP of Bihar on 30 August 2024. Although at that time Vinay Kumar’s name was being considered as the frontrunner for the post of DGP, but the Bihar government had given the responsibility of DGP to Alok Raj. Now he has been discharged after just three and a half months.
Jitendra Singh Gangwar became DG of surveillance
Bihar government has posted one more DG level officer. Jitendra Singh Gangwar has been made DG of surveillance. He has also been given the additional charge of DG Civil Defence. Jintendra Singh used to be ADG Headquarters at Gangwar Police Headquarters. After his promotion, Kundan Krishnanan was posted to that post.
